This work is an attempt to capture the search for identity and document how new pieces are added into one’s self. The main theme is brought forth through various subjects and practices: naming, persons and personas, relating and imitating, music, ballet and gender. Using myself as an example has been a deliberate choice, since that particular practice of “self-collage” is something I noticed within my way of work and wished to study. But this work is not about me, or it is not meant to be. It is not concerned with what I am personally, but with how I become what I am, and how people accomplish that in general.
