While decaying and abandoned buildings might generally seem eerie and uncanny, it is my desire to show the peace, brightness and beauty of these places. While in abandoned buildings, you can see a warm reflection of a beam of light and hear fallen plaster from the walls under your feet. In such cases, feelings come to the surface and I am convinced that there must be emotions in the room.

I like to treat color as a building material and create the illusion of space through composition. I believe that the thick layers of pigment gradually applied to the canvas create surfaces with a rich texture that can be used to connect areas of detail and void.

The Laitse radio station on the paintings lost its purpose 14 years ago and is falling apart at an unexpected pace. I want to capture these abandoned spaces before nature has taken full advantage of them.
